I'm heading to a chocloate degustation dinner tonight.
Which In a way sounds really cool and I'm excited to go, on the other hand, I'm terrified that this dinner is going to set me back for the whole week, or more...
An idea of the menu is a choc cocktail to start, a bottle of red wine (maybe I'll have less...) and three courses (2 savoury, 1 sweet)that incorporate cocoa.
Any advice on how to keep the calories down, or am I'm just going to have to spend the next two days working out???

I think i gained 5 pounds just reading that..lol. Just eat less have fun and enjoy yourself. Let people know what your trying to accomplish. Remember what you eat and track it because you'll have to work hard to get it off..lol0

That sounds heavenly!! If it were me id have a small portion of each so I didn't over do it. Eat healthy every other day. Just me though.0

you may be surprised and find that the menu items are low cal. I use cocoa in my chili and some other dishes. I'd say go with small portions. Maybe eat a salad before you go so you aren't real hungry. Enjoy, just don't over do it!0

Thanks guys, love the advice.
Especially the part about remembering 'what you eat and track it because you'll have to work hard to get it off..lol"!!
I'll keep that in mind when I gaze down at my plate!!0 -
Well it was my birthday on Wednesday and we went to a super nice restaurant, 3 courses with 3 glasses of wine and a few drinks before hand! I logged it all, ate nearly 3000 cals that day.
Remember though that it takes 3500 extra calories on top of your maintain to gain weight. I was good Monday and Tuesday, and super good yesterday. Ok I ate an extra 1000 over maintenance, but not 3500, and have eaten much less the other days.
Today is my weigh in and I still lost 1 lb!!
Before I would have written the whole week off, esp as I'm going to the pub on Saturday too. But instead I have just added in extra exercise and been super good on the other 5 days!0 -
Same as the other guys said, I would do some cardio in the morning and try to earn a good few hundred calories, I would also limit calories during the day and I would eat something like a large fruit salad or something before I went so I didn't go there and see all that delicious food on an empty stomach and when each plate comes I would mentally divide the plate up and decide how much I was going to leave of each course. That way you get to taste it all but without the guilt and I would exercise the next day too.
If I got there and desperately wanted to eat all of my food though, I wouldn't deprive myself and it sounds like it may be too fabulous to waste. So if you're gonna go for it, enjoy it and get right back on track the next morning. Yes of course we need to stay on track but I if you end up feeling deprived at the end of it that could also be counter productive. Enjoy your evening!0
