A co-worker of mine recently told me about this website and how great it is to a have a tool to help with losing weight. I've been trying to diet for the past two years. Back story, Diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer back in 2009. I am completely cancer free now, but i am struggling with the weight issue. Since your thyroid controls your metabolism, and my thyroid is removed. It is making it a lot harder to shed the pounds. I have to be on medication and if the levels are normal, it doesn't help with weight loss. I have never been overweight and gaining as much as did when i got sick has played havoc on my mind and body. I know realistically, i wont be the same weight i was but i want to be comfortably. So im going to give this a try and see how this goes. If anyone has any suggestions, im open to all.. Thanks

First of all, welcome to MFP!! This site is amazing and you will get a lot of support here.

You never know, you may get back to your same weight. I kept thinking that I was never going to be the weight that I was when I first met my husband 13 years ago. I started my weight lose journey in March and have lost almost 27 pds and I have 14 to go before I hit my weight from 13 years ago. I know that I will hit this weight. I am hoping be the end of October which was our 1st date, but I am not setting myself up to fail. My husband tells me that as long as I keep losing weight to where I want to be is all that matters.

Please feel free to friend me!!

I'm new also and have struggled with my weight all my life, well, that's not really true! I had a great mom that taught me well -how to eat right and always to exercise... we just have the bad genes in our family and great cooks -ha! I love "companionship" and "great ideas" when I'm trying to lose 10-15 lbs. and this looks like a great way to do it and I have to track!! I hope I meet some good friends and get some good ideas!!
