I recently got my HRM in the mail today (polar ft7) and there are different options like heart touch, heart rate view, heart rate upper limit, i was wondering how i train with it. I wanna burn fat but I dont know what range I should use it in...

If you're new to all this, then just worry about calories in vs calories out. Use the HRM to track calories burned, enter them into MFP and eat accordingly.
There is a degree of diminishing returns when you start worrying about heart rate zones, catabolic states, etc etc.
For 90% of the people on this site, this is a K.I.S.S. issue.0 -
when i meant im new to this i meant HRMs i know the basic concept of them like they have them on the machines at my gym and that (the sensors) but i want a more accurate reading....im just new to owning an HRM....sorry0

I just got the Ft7 yesterday...it figures your zones for you...so you dont have to worry about it. Find what display you like best...by hubby just likes to see his HR in the large numbers...I like the scale and I only look at the calories burned at the end.
Have fun! I am finding I am actually burning less than I thought so it will really help to monitor calories in vs.out.0 -
I agree with Jacksonpt! I have the same HRM. It is awesome. Set it up with your stats, and then just use it! You will find that it is far more accurate than the machines...and it really helps to know what you are burning when it comes to what you are eatin!
Great luck!0 -
I have the FT7 also and love it... it figures out the zones for you after you enter your stats.
I usuallyuse the calorie burned display and when I'm done, I review how much of my hour was in fat burning vs. fitness zone (which really doesn't meant a lot to me anyway)0 -

Yep, just set it up and use it... don't worry about the zones. Heart rate zones have been around longer than HRM have been popular (at least as an inexpensive consumer product). Sleep, eat, burn calories, repeat. If you're eating right and exercising, you'll see results regardless of the zone.0
