Cardio vs. Weight Training

When I go to the gym, I like to do my cardio first, and then I do my weight training and toning. However, I heard somewhere that it's better for the body if you do the muscle stuff first, and then do cardio after. Is that true? Or is it just another one of those fitness myths?

I have always been told to do about 30 min of cardio or treadmill...then your weight training....and then end with 30 minutes of cardio or treadmill...

it's true that it's better to do weight training first because it's harder to really exert yourself on lifting heavy weight and building muscle when your muscles are fatigued after doing cardio.

I think it depends on what your goal is.

If you want to work on you cardio fitness, do cardio first. If you're trying to build muscle, weight training first.

Either way you should always do a cardio warmup to get your heartrate going before doing weight training. Some find it easier to do weights first because you don't tire out so quickly. As long as you're doing both... its really up to your preference.

I have also heard that it's better to weight train 1st (after a short cardio warm-up of about 5 min).
However, I have found for myself that its easier for me to do my cardio 1st then my weight training. I think you just need to find whatever works best for you.

    Good luck!!
