Earphones?

I'm looking for some helmet earphones for my husband for his birthday. He rides a streetbike, and has lost a couple sets of earbuds. There are several kinds, and no reviews that I can find. I was looking at some from GSI - they're flat pads that stick inside the helmet.
Does anyone have any opinions?
Has anyone ever used them?

I'm kind of opposed to the use of headphones if one is riding on commercial roads. Being on a bike can be dangerous enough without impairing one's hearing.

I totally agree with this. If you can't hear what's around you, how are you gonna know what's going on? It's not just visual on a bike.

In most states it is actually illegal. I've written tickets for using headphones while driving cars and motorcycles in California. I still know plenty of people that do it though.
