... are preachy.

... are sanctimonious.

... think that humans are strictly herbivores.

... think omnivores are going to hell (because vegans are also omnis - they just choose to exclude animal products).

... are lacking protein.

... care what you eat.

... pass judgment on what you eat.

Some of us are just like you - we just eat differently. :flowerforyou:

I love that you don't think you should shove your ways of eating down my throat, as I wouldn't to anyone, either. You rock!

    Amen!!!

I never preach, unless provoked... and by provoked, I mean I have to pretty much be harassed about my food choices before I start defending them.

Eat what you want, and I'll do the same.

bravo!! I hate that people have to assume we're gonna be preachy and automatically block our words...I get that just by being veggie! I will only tell people about being veggie if they ask, no worries!

Nope, not all of us, but some of are loud and proud to be doing what is right (walking a path of non-violence), don't feel any need to apologize for doing so, and aren't afraid to call people out from time to time.

Just like any group of folks in the minority, sometimes you gotta ruffle a few feathers, and make people uncomfortable, to right wrongs.

Thank gawd that all the human (and animal) rights advocates in the past weren't afraid to stand up for what's right or we'd still have slavery, women wouldn't be able to vote, and animals would be viewed as things, not sentient beings. Oh wait, yeah, I guess we still got some work to do on that last one!

Love you all my brothers and sisters and I hope that you all find true peace in your hearts.

(This thread will be deleted as being too controversial anyway as soon as the "I love vegans - roasted on a spit with bbq sauce!" poster arrives....)

    Peace and Namaste -

PS - I think I have officially come out of MFP shell now!

Has anyone said yet, "I love vegans. They are delicious!" Just kidding. ;)

As a former non-preachy 2 year vegan and decade long vegetarian who has just recently started eating meat again and does have a highly pretentious vegan sister, I salute you. Snobby, preachy, naive, unhealthy, skinny vegetarians were always giving me a bad name.

I'd like to learn more about veganism from vegans like you! Not because I ever plan to become one, but because I have now had my interest piqued.

Seconded. There's a balance that can be found. All of us non-crazies know that preaching gets you nowhere.

I agree with you, <3 this!!!! I am a long time vegetarian and have decided to go vegan(working on it slowly). I stand up for what I believe in when it is brought up but I am not going to attack someone that does not believe the same way I do.

I find vegans to be very much like Christians. There are some that I greatly appreciate, can learn from, get information from. And then there's some that make me want to burn in the fiery pit of hell, just so I can get away from them!
