Sometimes I help out a local restaurant by making deliveries for them when there main employee is out for whatever reason. This Tuesday I went on a delivery run to a local college campus. I get out of the car and I hear:

"You delivering?"
"Yes"
"Well, D@m* baby.... You're the hottest person they have ever sent out here."
"um, Thanks"
"What do you do in your spare time?"
"I have 2 kids. I have no spare time." lol
"Can I have your number?"
"I'm flattered, but I don't think my husband would appreciate that very much." Flashes wedding ring...

The guy and his buddies kept pushing for me to give up the digits and stuff... but I gracefully got the heck out of dodge although at one point I was worried I was going to have to use some of my karate.

My heavier self wouldn't have had to deal with that. Can honestly say, I was missing the junk in my trunk for a minute. LOL

Wow you think they would get the point after you flashed your wedding ring and told them you were married. What losers! :noway:

I totally understand... It can be awkward sometimes. I had to start wearing a ring after two and a half years of marriage because men are very forward sometimes. The strangers aren't the problem... it's the guys you know who are the worst.

I do understand what you mean. We hide behind the fatter person because it is easier. This is where you need to become stronger and learn that you are beautiful and it is okay to take compliments. I have the same issue, so I can relate. Good luck, and you look great.

    Nice NSV!!

Don't miss the big. Try to turn that into a BIG positive... heck yes it is flattering! You handled it well... gracefully. I probly would have been about the same... but definitely on the drive out - I would be all 'YEAH - THAT'S RIGHT - YOU WANT IT BUT YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!!' (in my head).

When I lost weight last year I noticed that there was this magical tipping point where I became visible again. Not just to guys, but to everyone! Guys would hold the door for me at the Rec center - not because they were flirting because I wasn't yet to the "hot" stage, but just because they could see me. It was crazy!

I would enjoy it. Just decide to take it as a complement and roll :drinker:

Before, in my slimmer days, you just act interested and give them a number to a company in the area that specializes in penis enlargement or erectile dysfunction or similar if they just wont take no

Yeah, I got to get better about being noticed more now. I was so accustomed to being invisible for so long.
  • I think all the attention is flattering. Sometimes akward, but nice to know you'r look good enough to get compliments. It always makes me feel good!

Just take it in and enjoy the compliment and respond:

    "Yeah, I know!"

    You look great!

Problem is, this isn't really a 'compliment' as such, is it? it's unwanted attention, and she's clearly signalled it's unwanted.

    Crass and nasty, really.

You are very beautiful, and you have done an amazing job of weightloss. Don't let icky people like this bring you down or deflect you from your goals.

It did get very crass and nasty towards the end... But I got out of there without having to use any karate on anyone. So, its a thing in the past now.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my weight loss. Can't weight (pun intended) until I get out of the 200s for good!

What a doll you are. We are similar in age and goals, so I relate. It would have caught me off guard. Way to handle yourself. I still have fat girl mentality, People would run into me at the store or other places and the thought would go through my mind, "you can't see this 250 pound woman in front of you?" But I guess when you try to be invisible, you become that way whether you really wanted to be or not. So to you hats off for being graceful yet firm!

This is one of my biggest fears about losing weight. Even at my heaviest I sometimes got unwanted attention and for some reason I don't know how to deal with it... I use public transportation and the unwanted attention is generally from the elderly, ex-convicts, substance abusers, or 22-year-old gang bangers who ask me to have their baby. I try to politely say no, but they keep pushing and make me feel very uncomfortable. Maybe if I tell them about my saggy boob-skins and apron skin they'll leave me alone, lol.

Yes, I've experienced this tipping point... it's so strange! The feeling of going from invisible to visible.

As for the original post, I understand what you are saying... something started out as a compliment ended up just a wee bit scary. I guess it's time to learn new/more ways of handling this because there's no more fat to buffer it away!
