Weekly/Monthly Goals?

Recently it has come to my attention that I need to start setting weekly goals for exercising: Example: 1000 jumping jacks, 1000 crunches, 100 mountain climbers...etc...

I've been on here for about a month and a week and have found that the August Challenge is awesome at keeping me on track for things that I should be doing on a daily/weekly basis, but I need some ideas as to what others do for goal setting. I don't want to just do the challenges, I want to do more.

Thanks!

    Hi Brandy
So do you have a gym membership??
I basically have a exercise regime that I follow for 6 weeks then change it up. I see a personal trainer once every 6 weeks and she weighs and measures me and then sets me a new regime to folllow.
At the moment I am following one of these: (basically go through the find a plan section and it'll give you a weights plan,
    http://www.bodybuilding.com/guides/
and I also do different cardio.
Apparently the cardio on the bodybuilder.com is a bit naff so I do my own instead. On my cardio days I try and do either running, squash or a spin class.
Another thing which is really good is the C25K http://www.c25k.com/, I think Sonia is starting this and I know alot of other people who have done it and get addicted to running :-)
So I guess decide what you want to achieve adn then pick a plan.
I can help you more if you like, maybe set you something to do (recycle some of my old regimes from my PT for you)? I really find it helpful having someone to tell me what to do. Gives me a bit more drive and purpose.

I am actually debating on whether or not to get a gym membership. With my son's new after school care expenses being half of what I was paying for daycare, it is making it tempting to get a membership again. I just didn't stick with it before and I would hate to get it and waste more money on it again, you know? Well, as of yesterday, my son has requested that I dono't pick him up early, which means one of two things: I can work more OR I can go to the gym before I pick him up. I work a lot anyway, so the gym thing is looking mighty tempting.

I would LOVE it if you would share some of your past regimes!! It may help me get started in the right direction! I just want to do more and I'm afraid of bouncing around at home since I have a down stairs neighbor who may not appreciate said bouncing.

I set new goals for myself every month...and then post the "plan" to all of my MFP pals so they can help hold me accountable! I also put them in my signature for all to see, and in my profile! the more it's "out there" the better!

My goals usually include a lbs loss goal, a water goal, 1-2 diet goals (protein amount, sodium amount, fiber amount...), 1-2 exercise goals (workout 5 days/week, work abs/arms 3 days/week, finish JM 30 day shred by such-n-such date...).

After the month is up...I repost what my goals were, and put how I actually did! And thus far, this way of doing things has worked wonders for me!

good job so far, and good luck for the future!

My current monthly goals are completing 60 miles cycling weekly and running 20 miles weekly and three days of strength training, this month it's JM No More trouble Zones. In the month as I complete the miles, it changes to time and distance.

Some of my previoius goals, swimming laps weekly, different home DVD workout programs. you don't need a gym membership, if you have it that's a bonus. My sons are three and five years old, I do extra bike miles with them for family fun or when we are at the park, they do some of the shuttle sprinits and run (they are on their bikes) laps with me. The key is doing something you like/enjoy. Good luck!!!
