hello, i have a lot of weight to lose and the first week i was done 6 pounds which i know majority of it was from water loss. the middle of my 2nd week (my week starts on thursdays) i went out of town and ended up indulging on food and special drinks. i then did my weigh in on wednesday last week and was up one pound. i decided that i need to kickstart my weight loss again and decided to do about one hour of intermediate to high impact aerobics. week prior i was doing one hour of walking. it is sunday and there is no change in the scale. i know my weight loss is going to slow down now that my body is trying to get the hint of what i am doing but shouldnt i still be losing atleast 2 pounds a week? atleast 1 pound after 3-4 days? my settings are for 1 1/2 pounds a week and i attempt to leave an extra 250 or more also because of slight errors with the calorie burn during workouts. i will admit openly that i do drink which i have slowed down big time, and yes it is hard when my bf always has a drinks in the fridge. is the beer the issue although i stay below my calories? i have opened my diary for this post.

The weekly losses are gret to have and look at, but what you really want is teh the long term results. Keep doing what you are doing, excercise, water, and staying at or below your calories and the food will come off. Regarding the beer, if you are counting it in your daily calories, your fine. Although, I might stock his fridge with low calorie options...

    Take Care

You should take your measurements if you haven't already. I have my goal set to 1 1/2 lbs per week but don't always lose that much. I have been consistently losing inches though (mainly around my waist & hips). It helps me not get so down if there's not a big loss. I measure myself every 2 weeks.

While it is no realistic to say never have a beer again or indulge on things in life they do affect the outcome. Alcohol is harder for our body to process and can alter the amount of weight and fat you loose. Here is an interesting article about beer and weight loss:

It seems like your doing OK and while I don't think beer will be your ultimate demise less is better.. :)
  • I see alot of the same patterns I have in your diary. I love sugar and I love bread but those two things will keep you big. They only make you bigger. You have to remember that when white bread hits your stomach it expands. I would suggest try eating 100% whole wheat bread with low sugar or if that is too much than try a honey wheat bread. You need more fiber in your diet which means more vegetables, fruit and whole grains. I have tried dieting while still eating sugar, and white bread and it doesn't work. Fact is if you really want to lose the weight you have to cut them out. I understand that's hard but if you can slowly go off junk or substitute them for healthier choices, good for you but I couldn't. I can't have them in the house at all or I will binge. As far as the beer goes you need to think of it like you would sugar soda. They both have sugar and carbs, once in a while is okay but you have to remember that if you are to succeed in your weight loss you have to change your life and how you live it. You have to learn to be a completely different person. Like me, every time I think about food I think about something in the house that needs to be done or cleaned. I see like me you have you a lot to loose which means this is going to take time. You need to set small achievable goals and a bigger picture so you can see your total loss. I had 20 pound loss goals and I found myself getting frustrated so I cut them down to 10 pound goals so I know I can achieve it and keep me motivated at the same time.
Hope this helps, Big hugs, Rebekah

i read the article. i figure it has to be the alcohol. even though i did lose 6 pounds in one week, mostly water, there is no way my body should be at a pleteau right now.
