I have 4 amazing kids & a supportive wonderful husband. I love my job as a technology teacher... yet I am always miserable & frustrated with myself because I need to lose weight & gain energy & feel better... Of course I have tried many programs & exercises & journals & you name it... but I have never tried the one thing everyone consistently says will work... eat less, exercise more. Upon seeing my latest book & witnessing my increasing frustration & disappointment with myself, my husband repeated the same advice. "Honey, I love you the way you are but I know you want to be healthier. Try to reduce the serving sizes you eat and add a little more exercise and see what happens..."

I am joining MFP so I can find friends who are on the same journey I am to support and encourage me along the way. I would love to help others, also! I am a pro at helping other people but never seem to make taking care of ME a priority! Add me as a friend & we can do this together!! Good luck to you!

I read an interesting article on lifescript.com entitled "Can I do this for life?" Here's an excerpt which I found very interesting:

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is something you will enjoy for the rest of your life, which brings up a good question to ask yourself as you embark on your plan: “Can I do this for life?”

If you can’t honestly answer "yes" to this question, then there’s a good chance you’re setting yourself up for failure by having unrealistic expectations of yourself. In fact, the only way you can answer "yes" is if you’re willing to make slow, deliberate changes that will change the way you live. As daunting as that may sound, when you take it step by step, you’ll wonder why you didn’t just lose the weight earlier and get it over with! Set yourself up for a future free from unwanted weight gain by working on replacing your current bad habits with healthier habits that you can continue for the rest of your life.

That means passing up the idea of starving yourself for a couple weeks to get the weight off. It means steering clear of the idea of exercising three times a day so you can fit into those jeans by next week. In fact, it means getting rid of all your short-term, “get fit quick” schemes and settling in for the long haul. Have a plan, set realistic goals and enjoy knowing that you will be healthy and fit for the rest of your life.

Good luck to you and your weight loss goals :)

Glad to have you and you absolutely can do this! I know everyone says this but - if I can do it, so can you! And totally agree with risaiz that it has to be something you can do for the rest of your life. I can totally keep this up! :D
