Your food diary for today looks pretty good. There's a lot of sodium in condiments and other seasonings in order to keep it "fresh." Also, stay away from processed foods!0

Most sodium comes in the form of processed foods. Things in cans, chicken breasts with injected salt, frozen entrees, fast food. Things that are low in sodium include regular meat, like ground beef or turkey, whole or cut up chicken, fish, etc. Fruits and veggies have almost no sodium, and their potassium helps offset too much sodium in the body to help the kidneys. Good LUck!!0

I agree, cutting down processed foods and condiments will really help with the sodium. As for sugar, I have problems with that too. Just really watch what has the most sugar and either cut that stuff out or cut it back. Replace fruits with veggies and that will help knock down the natural sugar and still give you great beneficial nutrients.0

I second keeping away from the processed foods as much as possible. fresher foods usually taste better!
I wouldn't worry about either sugars or sodium, unless you're diabetic or have high blood pressure. Limit fruits and sweets (obviously) but if you need the sugar fix, going over on fruit would be fine! salts are extremely common in condiments, so cut back on them to lower sodium.
your diary looks awesome though0 -
Since I hardly eat any added sugar, I don't even worry about my sugar levels anymore. I'm not diabetic, so the natural sugar in fruits/veggies is a good thing! It gives me energy and tastes delicious. As far as sodium goes, since there's so much of it in the "average" American diet, it's kind of hard to stay away from. But, it's a gradual (and healthy!) change. So take it day by day, and in the meantime, soak up as much water as you can to offset any water retention you may be experiencing due to sodium intake.
Good luck!0 -
I am awful about logging water, I do drink a lot though!
By processed foods you mean the subway I had? ;-) it was worth it lol normally I don't have that stuff. And I guess I can cut out the fiber one bars but they are a nice treat.
I really just worry about the sodium intake...it seems I'm always over...I didnt realise it was like in every single thing!0
