I just signed up! Our date is set for Oct 13 2012, since it's still so far I haven't started looking for dresses yet. But I've just reserved the church, officiant, and reception venue, this week I'll be mailing out the deposits!

WOW!! You are efficient! Are you in an area that books venues really early?

Part of the reason I've got that all set up so early is because I think the city is fairly popular for weddings, it's in Québec City, Canada. I'll be getting married in the historic part of the city (Vieux-Québec), all the old stone architecture and pedestrian streets are so beautiful, it's like going to Europe without crossing the ocean haha. The main reason though is because we don't live there, and want to make as few wedding-related trips there as possible (we live two provinces over, in Nova Scotia). In July we went there to visit my fiance's family, so instead of coming back in a few months to do wedding planning, I figured I'd try to visit places and get venue stuff out of the way while we were there. So now I should be good until the next time we go to visit people!

Other than getting those booked, I'm not really efficient haha. People keep asking me about wedding colours or ideas for bridesmaids dresses, and I'm just like "Errrr.....no idea...."

hahaha!!! Well, you got the important stuff out of the way!

I'm making the sad realization that I won't be able to have the wedding this spring. Unless our parents pay for most of it, which I don't want them to, we won't have the funds. I'm debating on how much to postpone the wedding. I still want a spring time wedding so it will probably be 10 months later than I wanted.

:frown: Is there anything than can be adjusted or sacrificed in the budget?

    That sucks. Sorry Nico. :frown:

Yes and no. The bf and I have been getting into hardcore arguments on how much stuff I can DIY. If we could get our parents to agree that we don't need all of our extended family there, then we can afford it. I really don't want to invite and feed all 50+ of my cousins that I see maybe once or twice a year.

Also, is it acceptable to have an 18 year old flower girl? I totally don't care. I'm doing it anyways.

It's totally acceptable to have an 18 year old flower girl!!! Here in the south we call them Junior Bridesmaids! It's YOUR wedding girl....do it Nico Style!

I am so happy that I found this challenge. I am recently engaged. We have started semi-planning it. We have our date picked for March 24, 2012. We have been together for almost 5 years and have a almost 3 year old daughter.

I have decided to not really start looking for dresses until like January. I am hoping to be close to my goal by my wedding day. I still have 60 pounds to go, but I am pretty sure that I can do it.

In a great mood today everyone! I lost .6 lbs.... finally putting me 162.6... which is the first time I've been able to get it past the 163-165 mark in about 3 months!!!!

Today I am going bridesmaid dress shopping which my maid of honor, and crossing my fingers that I can find that "perfect green" I've been looking for....and probably being that crazy lady that asks to see her dress again...(I might just look at it thru the bag this time, seeing as I just tried it on again last month :blushing: )...... Am I the only one who has done this??

Hope everybody has a great day!

Nico - easiest way to save money is to cut back on the guest list! As much as moms and grandparents want to use weddings as an excuse to get to see every cousin on the planet, some times it's just not feasible. Someone can plan a family reunion if that's what they want. I let my mom add a BUNCH of people to my first wedding, and it was akward and weird to have people there I didn't know. Second wedding: It's going to be immediate family only, and only people I really do interact with.

Super excited to start! Yesterday was a bad day, but today I had some good exercise, and I'm feeling good. I had a bridezilla day yesterday. I'm not usually like that, and I didn't like seeing it in myself! Anyone else have bridezilla moments?

I'm doing a fruit detox this weekend to help kick start me back into healthy eating. I've been eating crappy and I need to stop.

Oh yeah, the challenge is now closed. The only people in are now on the spreadsheet. Any one new must wait for someone to drop out to take their spot.
  • Are we ready to go ????
