How important is it to watch what you're eating as opposed to counting calories? Frankly , I will eat crap some days but I'm still within my calories.

I was hoping this thread was about calories burned while crapping0

Sorry but that would be a good one. How many calories would we be losing?0

If you're eating to nourish your body exclusively, then eliminate all crap. However, since enjoying life is important, eat some crap and enjoy it. Keep your calories in check. Make 80-90% of your calories come from whole food sources, and you can let go for the other 10-20%.
I eat what I want. Generally, I want to eat really healthy foods. Two thin slices of red velvet cake were crap, but worth it. And I totally enjoyed it. Guiltlessly.0 -
They say all calories are not created equal. But I had better luck losing weight when I just watched my calories and portions and didn't try to cut out a bunch of stuff. So I say do what feels best for you and keeps you relatively healthy. I mean, its not a good idea to eat only Twinkies all day, but I think its ok to have some.0

I think it is all about the calories. I don't eat like total crap anymore, but I do east some junk food and I just fit it into my daily allowance and I'm losing still.0

I personally went the eat healthier food route and have never felt better in my life. After a week or so I did not miss the crap. And I find a eat a LOT less since I am satisfied more quickly!
Our family eats out about once a week since we do like to sit down and enjoy foods that we wouldn't cook at home but the food just doesn't taste as good as it used to.0 -
You can lose weight eating Twinkies. It's been proven.0

Important for what? If you're trying to lose weight, you can still lose as long as you're at a calorie deficit. You might feel like crap and be hungry all the time though. And if you're not getting good nutrition you may develop health problems. There's more to the picture than simply losing weight.0 -
You are what you eat. Do you want to be primarily crap? Probably not.
Sure every once in a while I want some high calorie low nutrition thing. That's why I eat my exercise calories. I eat my occasional crap on top of a reasonable day of eating and do a little extra something to "earn" it. Eating exercise calories gets me to exercise more. And the occasional crap reinforces my better behavior.
Food is enjoyable AND it is the fuel and raw material out of which my body is remaking itself? Do I want that to be from Twinkies? Heck no!0
