Does anyone even read these? MFP has helped me drop almost 20 lbs in just over a month. Pretty amazing how your mentality and awareness truly determines how successful you will be. I'm excited to be the lightest I've been in my adult life. I'm looking forward to the extra energy and self confidence. This community is pretty cool but at the same time it's sad to see how people truly struggle with the discipline to not binge. I just got a buddy to sign up so we're going to help keep each other in check. I highly recommend doing that if you're having trouble.
Anyone have any plateau tips?

I read it. I am sure others will too.
Are you eating enough? Starvation will stall you. Are you eating a lot of protein? Lower your carbs and fat and see if that helps.
Plateaus are inevitable. You can't imagine what I've endured losing 164lbs!
Welcome to the boards and good luck! oxoxo0 -
yes, people read this. sometimes more, sometimes less (weekends are always slow in the forums LOL)
As for the plateaus ... the happen to almost everyone. All you can do is pushing through. Eat lots of protein (in general, eat ENOUGH - starving isn't necessary and also not good for your body), change your exercise routine and keep going.
Try to build a support system for you and support others as well, it will help you in the long run.
Good luck and welcome aboard. =^_^=0 -
I read them when i get the chance. This place is great and I've lost 11 pounds in a month and I'm motivated for the next 50! Tips for plateau is just to make sure you aren't eating too little and change up your workout. Once your body gets a routine it slows down. You have to shock it sometimes toget it to keep losing. Good luck!0

Plateau tip- this is going to sound weird, but it's worked for me 3 times. If I start plateauing, I pick one meal and go WAY over my calories. Steak, potatoes, bread - the whole nine yards. The next day I'm up a little, but within 3 days I find I've lost a pound and go back to losing about a pound a week. I read on some forum that this kind of behavior sort of kick starts your metabolism.0

This is true.....if you cross your calorie intake it helps pass a platue....if you are eating, lets say 1200 cals a day (use your amoutn that you eat) try eating 1500 cals one day and maybe 1000 the next or 1400 cals one day and 1100 the next....be mindful of your food intake....if you are eating a lot of dairy, try and cut some of that out and keep it to veggies and lean meats for a bit and see if that helps....0 -
That's crazy! I've heard a lot of people mention to shock your system by loading up in calories kind of like a jump start. Unintentionally I killed some Donatos pizza a few weeks back and sure enough was up for one day but started dropping again like crazy. It almost gives you a reason to treat yourself on the weekend a little bit. It's just funny how the addictive high-fructose corn syrup tries to mentally break you every time you "treat" yourself. That's the toughest part. I'm pretty sure every diet I've tried usually gets destroyed during a vacation. Good luck all.0
