Just wondering what everyone eats before and after they workout. Also, how long should you wait after you eat to workout? After my workouts I usually eat a banana and a handful of unsalted peanuts or tuna fish. Another after workout snack I enjoy is an ice cold glass of chocolate milk w/ a tsp of peanut butter. But am totally lost on what to eat before hand. Chime in! Thanks bunches!

To lose weight you shouldn't eat anything before a workout or for an hour after your workout. After my workout i make green drinks, maybe a few cucumbers, spinach, avocado, with some hemp protein in a vitamix blender with a bit of water. oh and some amino acid tablets. and I am set.(only on my lifting days)0 -
I usually eat whole carbs about an hour before my workouts and whey isolate directly after.
i am trying to build muscle though, not lose weight/fat.0 -
A banana and peanut butter is a common pre-workout snack for me. Or depending on the timing of the day, if my regular breakfast or lunch or dinner were within 1 or 2 hours of workout time, I just do the workout. You don't have to overthink it too much.. just eat foods that will fulfill your daily calorie and macro targets. If you get belly cramps or discomfort if you eat too close to workout time, then try to space the meal so it's not so close to the actual workout time. Or have a small thing that's easy to digest.0

I usually work out on an empty stomach, just because I'm not hungry until much later in the day. And then after my workout I usually don't eat for awhile either....seems to be working fine.0

am workout: nothing
pm workout: nothing specific but usually my choc/nat pb proats just ends up before my workout.0 -
as I work out as soon as I get up I don't eat before, but I do a protein shake afterwards.0

I workout in the morning. I typically eat Greek yogurt before and either a low fat string cheese or granola bar after.0

Before a run in the morning I eat an egg, some almond butter, coffee and water, if it's a long run I'll eat some fruit. In the afternoon I just eat my normal lunch but watch the timing, so I don't throw up during Insanity or something. I've been getting hungry in the middle of workouts lately, so about 20-30 minutes before and afternoon workout I eat almonds or pecans. And I always be sure to eat right after. Carbs and a little protein, usually Honey Milk after a run and fruit/veggies and a little protein after lifting.0

I get up at 4:35am, head downtown to my office and the gym, so I'm working out from 5:50 to 6:40. I don't eat until after. I can't face food that early in the day. Just water to hydrate before I start, and afterwards, I have a bagel with peanut butter, banana and a coffee. MUST HAVE COFFEE!
Probably not ideal, but I'm used to it now.0 -
depends, do you workout right after waking? Then nothing. If it's an hour or two away, I eat half a bagel with peanut butter or oatmeal with half a scoop of protein. After I usually eat a protein shake/bar, apple and cheese, etc0
