Hi I'm at my highest ever waist of 38inch, I'm 6ft and weigh 221lb, 231 2 weeks ago when I started this. I have just measured my waist using a tailors tape and it reads 42", any idea why? I wear 38", some 36" jeans. Overall I hope to get to 186lb and a healthy BMI

Did you measure your waist at your belt line, or at your bellybutton? I know at my bellybutton my waist is quite a bit bigger than it is at the belt line. I still can't get the same measurement with a tape than what my pants say my waist is, though. Maybe they do it to make people feel better about themselves, thinking they are thinner than they really are.0

Have you tried measure your pants with the tape? Chances are they aren't 38. Guys clothes are starting to play the same tricks womens' do with sizing.0
