If you have a big belly when did you notice it starting to go away? I still have alot to go but I really want to get rid of this belly. My hips are 43 inches, waist 45 inches, and bust 42 inches. I have been walking alot and I can always feel the burn in my belly when I get done walking. I'm scared to do sit-ups right now cause I'm worried it will just make my belly stick out more.

Do side crunches to work your obliques. That will help pull the stomach in tighter. Good posture helps as well0

I say, if you can do sit ups, do them, it shouldn't make your belly bigger.0

Honestly, your stomach is prob. going to be one of the last to go and you can't make it go any faster either unfortunately.
I'd recommend doing a combo of cardio and weights. Since muscle burns more calories than fat, you'll want that muscle to help burn off the fat. Plus strengthening the abdominal muscles won't make it stick it out any more.. it might help make it stick out less since the muscles are firmer.0 -
It takes a while for noticeable changes. Clothes start fitting differently, you can see your feet again....notches in the belt....
I've heard the belly actually has two layers of fat, hence the problem area for most. Don't avoid any specific type of exercise, it's all good!

lol im in the same boat. ive been bustin my *kitten* for over 2 weeks. i am stronger and can exercise longer but i feel like my belly isnt shrinking fast enough. i do know its the last thing to go. your face will get smaller as will your fingers. have u seen biggest loser? when they do the result starting from the beginning they do the snap shot of someone all the way thru and you can see that toward the end of there 3 months..there belly was last to go lol it sucks i know but dont give up! it'll b worth it. youl be in a bathsuit by next summer or maybe christmas if u go on vacation lol0

In the past few weeks....I still don't "see" the difference in my belly - others do - but it's little things like bending over to pick something up from a seated position...I used to have to lean to the side, now I lean straight over - the first time I almost giggled out loud. My undies are fitting better/loser, same for my pants. So even tho I don't actually "see" it (not even in my progress pics) I can feel it. My tush on the other hand - wow! I've NEVER seen it like this - L~O~V~E IT!!!!!!!!0 -
find out if you have a local pilates class,
it concertrates on core strengh and in the process help tone your tummy. very good classes as they are very controled and slow movment, tend to hold positions and concerntrated on drawing the belly button towards the spine and maintaining breathing.

Don't be afraid of sit-ups or crunches, you definitely won't make your stomach stick out any further. Like others have said, if anything it will bring it in a bit.
I started at 350lbs and it was about 30-40 lbs before I could really see a difference in my belly. I started losing weight again a few months ago at around 240lbs and in about 20lbs I could really see the difference in my belly again.0 -

My waist is 40 inches an I'm doing crunches ~ I might try full on sit ups tonight (I have a dermal that is in a place that makes sit ups questionable in terms of not hurting the dermal) I KNOW they wont make your stomach bigger, they will help it go away faster I've done this before I just got seriously lazy and slowly the weight came back. If you really want to push it, do 15 reg sit ups to start, I had to do 5 rest do 5 more til I got to 15 ~ do that for a week, then step it up to 20 AND add in incline sit ups ~ what I mean is put your feet about the level of someones shoulders and do sit ups (I put my feet on my hubbys shoulders well a lil past my ankles ~ so that my legs were at about a 45 degree angle) and do 15 more sit ups. Again I had to do 5 then rest an repeat. It sounds hard, and it is lol but you can do more than you think you can and after a week you'll wonder why you were so worried about starting0 -
Do abdominal crunches but make sure you exhale when you crunch up. I have a large belly due to weight and from my pregnancy. It is going down slowly, but it is going down. Working your ab muscles will tighten your tummy up, and as you lose the fat around your belly your ab muscle will start showing.0

Some great advice I was given during my training as a dancer by my Pilates instructor is that if you focus on trying not to "bunch" your abs up while you do crunches, but try to keep them looking the same (or even flatter) while working them, your muscles will build leaner instead of bulkier. It has worked for me as I've had to get rid of pregnancy belly twice. You should feel like you are pulling your abs (focusing on your lower abdominals) toward your head, relaxing your shoulders and your chest, while imagining your back muscles pulling toward your feet. If you do these types of crunches correctly, you should be doing more work per crunch, and there for need to do fewer of them to get the results. I naturally have a pudgy belly, that I have always had to fight, even during my prime dancing years. It is very hard for my body to stay lean, so for this to work for me has been a miracle. I hope this helps someone else the way it has helped me. Also, I have found that when deep stretching is a part of my routine, my muscles appear longer and leaner once the results start showing, as opposed to bulky. This applies to my whole body, not just abs.
If you need help figuring out how the abs are supposed to feel while crunching, take your hand to just below your bellybutton and press slightly in and up while you do your crunches. The exterior guidance seems to help your abs figure out what to do. And, remember to constantly remind yourself to relax your rib cage and your shoulders (don't want to get a headache from over-working your traps and neck).
Oh, and feeling cross-body action (opposing rib to hip movement, or "twisting") while running helps target the mid-section.0 -
I always lose weight in my stomach first it seems, because that was the very last place I gained weight (I guess?).0

I have been doing Ripped in 30 by Jillian Michaels and it's really helping slim me down. In the past two weeks I have lost 2 inches off my waist, and inch off each thigh, and an inch and a half off my hips. I hear her 30 Day Shred works wonders too (doing that next)!0
