So I am trying a workout plan where I do cardio 3 days a week and strength training the other three days...does strength training burn any calories? or should i just not take it into account when I am counting calories?

Yes, strength training burns calories. You may want to invest in a heart rate monitor. However, they are best used while doing cardio.0

It burns calories. Not sure how accurate the database is, though, because even HRMs can't measure calories burned for strengthening.
Personally, I'd log them. I get pretty hungry after I've done weight lifting.0 -
there is a strength training option under cardio which (for me anyway) gives about 100cal for 30mins which feels like a decent conservative estimate.0

I agree with the Heart Rate Monitor comment and if you want to kick up your weight training a notch throw some cardio into your weight routine. Do jumping jacks, lunges, jump rope, etc between sets.0

EVERYTHING burns calories, even breathing burns calories, just not as many. You are burning calories all the time, even in your sleep, that's why we shouldn't eat under 1200, we need fuel
IF you want cardio AND strength training, try kettlebells.0 -

***like*** I do just that. I jog in place or do jumping jacks in between sets, to keep the heart rate up.0 -
I do most of my exercise on Wii Fit Plus and the strength exercises are 1/2 to 3/5 of the calorie burn as the aerobic (cardio) but I didn't really start loosing weight until I got my muscles toned. The better toned your muscles are the more calories they burn no matter what exercise you are doing so if it is long term health and weight loss you are after, strength training is the way to go.0

Pick up the book, The New Rules of Lifting for Women. Muscle burns more calories AT REST so yes, it does burn calories and is great for you in the long run. Pick up the book or rent it from the library, promise you won't regret it
