Does eating too much protein make you gain?

I went -45 over my protein =( Will it hurt?

    I don't think so, I upped my protein settings because I was always going over as well. If you are working out a lot, especially any strength training, eating protein will just help your muscles develop. You'll lose fat, but gain muscle. :)

    no it wouldn't , your body would get rid off any extra protein that is not used :)

    Thanks for posting this question. I've often wondered this myself. Protein is usually ALWAYS mocking me with its bold red negative sign. Glad to hear its not going to hurt my progress.

    my doctor tells me the more protein you eat the faster you lose, it takes protein to heal muscles and muscles burn fat....

    You would have to eat loads more before it would cause you to gain fat. It's primary use is a building block for mucsle which you want. The MFP suggested amount is to low. Change it to between .7 grams to 1 gram per lb of body weight for women ant 1 to 2 grams per pound for men.
  • Usually I always go over my protein and fiber. I personally think it's a good thing.
