I'm sick of my weight going up and down so much... I feel like I'm never making any progress because I'll gain a few pounds then just lose what I gained. I go through this cycle of bingeing and then eating really well. Anyone have any tips for breaking this yo yo cycle????

  • I had the same problem that plagued me over and over.

Now I try to lose a few pounds and then maintain for a month(using the maintainence calories system)
It has worked so far, I lost 5 pounds by my goal fo december 5th and have maintined it now for almost a month (Jan 5th I want to be the same weight I am now)...then I will try to lose five more before February 5th, 2009 then maintain until March 5th, 2009...and so on....

Slow and steasy wins the race right....?

I find being on the maintinence calories helps me from fallign off the wagon and keeps my metabolism going too.

    Hope this helps

i have been like this for years, the thing i am doing differently this time is not putting myself under time constraints

i will lose this weight, just not in the 6 months that i thought in the beginning

i have lose 40 pounds since april 2007 and have a good couple of months where i lose a lot and then a bad couple of months where i maintain

take it one week at a time and stay strong and focused :flowerforyou:

For me, it's the sugar. If I don't have any I'm fine once I get past the initial withdrawal. BUT as soon as I "slip" and have something with sugar I'm doomed. I'll go straight to binge mode and it takes me weeks, months even years to get back on track. Sugar is evil! It's like crack! I am on day 3 of no sugar and have felt like s--t all three days. Like I have the flu. But I'm pretty sure it's withdrawal. Maybe they should have rehabs for sugar addicts!
