I am bored at work, and this made me chuckle

Girl: I'd like a triple vanilla ice cream sundae with chocolate syrup, nuts, whipped cream, topped off with a slice of cucumber.

Waiter: Did I hear you right? Did you say top it off with a slice of cucumber?

Girl: Good heavens, you're right! forget the cucumber – I'm on a diet.

heheh... i fall into that catagory... before joining mfp, i'd go to a place order whatever the heck i wanted, then a diet pepsi... but, it wasn't because i was watching what i ate.. i just prefer the taste.

now, on the other hand.... diet beverage, or water with a meal... not that i've eatten out a whole lot since starting my journey :)

im a waitress and this lady came in the other day, she was sweet but i had to laugh. she comes in and orders tat- chos. (which are tater tot nachos, the fake cheese, etc) and then she goes, and can i please have a diet coke, save me some of those calories... when she was literally about to consume over her daily caloric intake in a plate of "tat-chos".

i always order diet even if i am not watching what i eat its what i like. one time a guy at taco bell goes the diet coke wont help with all the cals your ordered. i was shocked he said that but i put him in his place cause i said first off buddy i like the taste of diet soda better then all the sugar and 2nd thats my husbands meal not mine i just wanted the drink (which was all true lol and lets say my husband is a pig but a size of a twig lmao)

Yah I think we've all done that.... ordered a big fatty-fat-fat take out meal with a diet coke.... everyone knows that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

But still, I guess at the end of the day if you eat 1200 cals of fried food and a diet coke it's just a tensy weensy better than 1200 cals of fried food and another 300 cals of sugary pop.

Thankfully I don't crave that bad food anymore... I do crave doritos from time to time though... with a coke zero!

The sad part is you are actually right. I used to do similar actions like the one stated above and I didn't even have the slightest clue of what I was doing to my own body. This is going to sound crazy but I had to learn how to eat. I used to order a double meat with cheese whataburger with extra cheese and mayonaise, large french fries, large onion rings, an apple pie and a large diet coke. That's over 3000 calories in 1 seating and that was just for lunch for dinner I would eat a kentucky fried chicken full meal deal with an extra thigh and a large diet coke. I don't laugh at people that do these kinds of actions anymore, I actually feel sad for them because I was in the same position not too long ago.
