Have a lovely day Tribeswomen!!!! I am going to go for a lite hike with my Sylvie (Heidi is staying home, she isn't particularly good with lots of people and seeing as it is Labor Day weekend, there are likely to be LOTS of people on the trails)

Feet on ground, hands on ground, butt in air, walk like that for 3 minutes... Gary has a blog that shows all these it is:

    http://mfpchallenges.blogspot.com/

It sounds easier than it is, but not so bad... I couldn't keep my knees straight, so mine were bent.

  • Oh my goodness. Before I started this challenge, I said, "Lord, help me to do all I can to keep myself motivated and to help motivate others." Sooo...I just did the bear walk. LOL.

I also could not do it with my knees completely straight. Not sure if it was a knee issue or just out of shape. Lucky for me, I have a very supportive teenage daughter. When I told her what I had to do she said, "Oh man. We had to do those for volleyball. They are not fun!" How encouraging huh? But she did offer to hold the stop watch and talk to me while I was doing it. It was really cute because she would say things like, "Mom, you've already done a minute and a half. You're halfway there. Just keep going. You can do it."

It is harder than it sounds once you start but I got it done. All three minutes and Im beginning to see that I have more strength than I knew. Not necessarily physical strength although that is HUGE but also mental endurance. I will no longer say, "I can't do that." From now on, I will say "I will try."

Was there a place for me to log this as an extra challenge? I didnt see anything for it.

Becca, For now post the "extras" here or message me them and I will add something to the Google Docs for next week...

The bear walk kicked my Hiney!!! Literally!!! Sylvia and Heidi thought it was some new kiss mommy game!!! :smooched: I found out that I can bear walk backwards almost faster than forwards! I have slobber in my ears! and Sylvia decided that walking under me was great fun!

(Doggy Info) I made her hamburg, beef liver, chicken liver, cottage cheese, veggie oil, fish oil, calcium carbonate, brown rice, egg mush... She thoroughly enjoyed it:heart: , I thought it kinda smelled like... well I won't say cause this is a polite forum! That may be why she liked it so much! Vet said for the next few weeks, until "that time" comes:cry: , she needs to eat almost NO simple sugars, limited complex carbs, and much more meats, proteins. It was cheaper feeding her REAL food than buying the tiny bag of dog food for this, and the real food was the vets preference anyways... She hadn't eaten any regular dog food at all earlier in the day:frown: , but she chomped this ick  down like it was Dog Thanksgiving! I gave Heidi a bit of the meats, and egg in her regular food so she got a little Doggy Thanksgiving too! Sylvia'll start on the Prednisone Tuesday. (btw, that is Sylvia with me in the weight ticker)

Ok, Tribeswomen!!!! <---- (stern face (hey does this make me a tribal elder??? lol))

Most of you are logging BEAUTIFULLY!!!!

My non-"google doc"-er is letting me know her stats!!!!

I do have ONE tribeswoman who has only made very minimal contact, that includes posting, messaging, google docs, start weight, or smoke signal! I need FULL participation!!! <
    (stern face again!!!)

The expectation of this TRIBE is for all Tribeswomen to consistently: Drink your water:drinker:, Eat under your calories:smile:, Be a Bushman:sick: or a Pygmy:embarassed: daily, Do the extra Team Challenges:bigsmile: , Support eachother:flowerforyou: , POST your stats:angry: , and weigh in on Sunday:happy: !!!

For the next 4 weeks we are The Tribeswomen of WannaWeigh'Wa!!!! Hau! Hau!! We are fierce:mad: ! We are dedicated:glasses: ! We are supportive:flowerforyou: ! We are a tribal family:heart: !

I am the nicest tribal elder you will ever meet...:noway:  But I will brook no shenanigans when it comes to the welfare of my Tribeswomen!!! <---- (stern face) I will support you with my whole heart:heart: ! But I expect the same from each and every one of you! Support means many things... comfort:flowerforyou: , cohesion:heart: , camaraderie:laugh: , closeness:smooched: , changing:grumble: , cheering:bigsmile: , and even if necessary constructive critics:ohwell: ... If we as a tribal family see that one... ANY one of our tribeswomen is struggling:cry::brokenheart:   :ohwell:   , she has to trust  that we have committed to stepping in to support her... it may be you... it may be me...

I am not asking you to spend all your "spare" time  on here waiting to help... but I am asking for consistency, Determination and Persistence!!! (Knew I'd get that in somewhere!)

Now get out there... drink that water:drinker: ... throw that spear:glasses: ... eat that food:smile: ... climb that tree:huh: ... and WALK that BEAR:sick: !!!

    Hau! Hau!!

  • Becky,

Congratulations on sticking with the program and doing the work. Don't get discouraged! You are making changes and some weeks the scale leads with changes, other times it doesn't. I find slow and steady will win the race. If we push to see the numbers go down on the scale, but in unhealthy or by unsustainable methods, it will come right back. Isn't that what has happened to most with yo-yo diets? MFP encourages consistency and learning about yourself as you go.

For me, this is TOM week and it usually makes me feel off and I tend to hold weight. But, I also know that I feel better when I exercise, even more so at this time.

WannaWeigh'Wa Tribe, let's kick it this week!

thanks for the encouragement. I wish I could be celebrating with you all. But I am celebrating for you all!!
I'm taking this day to myself and family. And I am on my way out the door for a walk. I need a nap much more, but will settle for a walk.
  • Re. where to log extra points. Maybe Sonia has alread added it after you wrote your note, but on my spreadsheet I see there is a box for "extra points" in cell E11. I just put one point for the bear walk for 3 minutes but that might have been in the wrong spot.

How nice that your daughter was cheering you on with the stopwatch. I had my watch on and kept looking to make sure I was on track (wouldn't want to do more than 3 minutes, would we?!). When I got downstairs, beet red, my husband said: "I wondered what was going on up there!" Guess this bear was a bit heavy-footed.

  • In need of motivation!! Just feel like sitting around sulking after my weight gain! HELP
