I have tried all sorts of "walking" shoes and I think the Nike "running" shoes provide the most comfort and support- I can power walk for an hour and my feet still feel good.

I've got some adidas on right now I ran cross country for two years and now walk in them. So I've had them 4 years and they still look almost new lol that's over 20 5k's running two hours every weekday, sometimes in mud up to my knees. they are awesome.

Personally, I like wearing trail runners for walking. Traditional walking shoes typically have less padding/cushioning in the sole and they're angled specifically for a walker's stride. I tried 'real' walking shoes and decided that I like having more cushioning, so I went back to trail runners.

I found this article pretty informative: http://www.prevention.com/health/fitness/walking/differences-between-walking-and-running-sneakers/article/1149d08f88803110VgnVCM20000012281eac____/
