i lost the toenail on my left foot. it doesn't really hurt, but it is tender.

any special instructions on how to take care of it? when does the tender feeling go away? i assume i can still run without it, but do i need to take a break for a day or two for it to heal?

If the tenderness bothers you, dab a little of the numbing/antibiotic cream on it (you can buy at Target). Advil is also good. It will probably only last a day or two though.

I run without toenails, no biggie. It's just a hazard of long distance running, and kind of a badge of honor! =) If you waited for it to heal, you would have to wait months - toenails are slow growers. If it is really painful, wait a day or two - if not, take an Advil and get back out there!

You can definitely run without a toe nail. Just watch for blistering. You may want to have your shoes refitted, feet change all the time and if you're losing weight or increasing your distance it may be time for a larger shoe or a different type of shoe. In my area there's a great store called Fleet Feet, I'm not sure where you're at, but I know you'll have a running store that will be helpful. PLus they always have great tips on how to handle injuries:)
I hope you heal quickly and with no pain.:flowerforyou:
