self sabbotage?

Hi All,
It seems like everytime I go about 2 weeks of eating right and exercising I start to see results. If I am trying to slim down before visiting my family or vacation, I do really well for a little while. As time gets closer, I go through a point of self sabbotage. I completely fall off the wagon and I don't know why. I think it could be the stress of the visit or vacation, but I am not sure. I always manage to completely undo all of my hard work.
Does anyone else go through this? How do you manage to stay on the path?
I lost 4 lbs the last couple weeks, but gained it all back over the last 3 days? Is that water weight, or just actual weight gain? Seems crazy to gain it back so quickly. Hopefully I will get back on track this week, but I don't get why I do this to myself every time.

It would be tough to actually gain 4 lbs in 3 days. You either lost water weight to begin with or have gained some now. Try avoiding salt as much as possible, that helps limit water retention. Eat more food with a high water content and drink lots of water - counterintuitive, but helps your body to regulate.
I also self-sabotage sometimes. My biggest problem is that when I lose a few pounds I start thinking that I look good, and then I splurge on a high-calorie meal. Having to exercise so much to lose weight is helping me avoid that, now that I know how hard it is to spend this much time in the gym and on elliptical machine to burn those calories, I don't want to eat them0 -
The closer I get to a mini-goal, the harder it is for me to reach it. Last week, I was 1.6# away from my Sept 1 goal. Today, I'm almost 4# away. Sucks.0
