Red Faced After ... is that ok?

I been doing, well I guess you call it interval training. Running up hill and walking down. sometimes running both or walking both. Its new to me, and I only did it ten minutes today (around 4pm) and my face was red for an hour.

Now I had probs with blood pressure in past, but i'm 130ish now so don't think thats it. I breathe hard after like I'm not getting are and my eyes dilate.

I kinda wonder if its due to my deviated septum and issues with my nose feeling like its trying to swell shut when I breathe hard. But I do try to breathe out it even though its hard, I know mouth breathing is bad.

I don't know. could it just be I need to take it slow or do I just need to avoid heavy exercise until I can get septoplasty?

My face is always red after a good workout, no matter what it is. I would be more worried about the breathing. It could def have something to do with the nasal issues, and I highly suggest you get that checked out by your doctor.
  • Do you have asthma? I know when i workout, I get warm very quickly and my face gets red. I have exercise induced asthma. I take an inhaler before I workout. I still tend to get a little red.

Thats a possibility too, I had that when I was younger, but kinda grew out of it.

If it's hard to breathe out through your nose, for heaven's sake, don't force it. Mouth breathing is not as bad as forced nasal breathing when your nose is swelling shut. If you have to force it, you're not getting enough oxygen, and that's bad in all kinds of ways.

My face is often beet red after I run, for a long time even. I don't have BP issues, so it doesn't seem to be a cause of concern to me, but if you are worried you should talk to your dr. :)

you know I've never got it checked. but to heavy of activity makes me feel like i can't breathe, then spawns a panic attack. i feel hot in my head and i'm red as a lobster, only in my head though. I use to not even sweat, now I at least sweat a little.

My face is always red for awhile after working out. I would talk to a doctor if need be about the breathing.

so basicly i'm gathering I need to take it easy, not worry to much, see a dr about my breathing and breathe thru my mouth if i must. THANKS! I guess I'll have to work on getting that checked out. (eventually fixed)

I don't think it would hurt to mention it to your dr about the breathing thing-the red face is normal-I know lots of people who (including myself) get that way after a hard workout and stay that way for awhile

I love intervals, but I sadly don't have hills anywhere nearby, so it's just plain run/walk for me.

Red face = completely normal, at least for me. My face gets hot, which is why it turns red. I don't sweat much while I'm running but once I stop, the waterworks start!

I'd definitely have the breathing issue checked out, but as long as you aren't passing out, you probably just need to work on breathing through your mouth until you can get the issue fixed. Take a bottle of water if your mouth gets dry (in single digit humidity, I know mine does).
