  • Well, this will probably float like a lead balloon. But, go a little vegetarian? Smart Sausage is pure vegetable protein. Eggbeaters are pretty high too. I still go with just eggs, which are just as high. But I'm in gain mode otherwise I'd do the other. Also consider working in some peanuts or almonds.

Eat lots of meat. Non-breaded ofcourse. Grilled Chicken and Turkey are the best healthy sources. Your occasional low-fat or no-fat milk is good too, 8g of protein per 8oz glass.

one of my favorite snacks right now is Baked Chickpeas!

Rinse them first - toss lightly in some olive oil and add salt and pepper to taste. OR even a little chilli powder to spice it up.
and bake for about 20-30 minutes - depending on how crispy you want them.

chicken, tuna, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, nuts, fush, turkey, skim milk, cottage cheese...
  • Whenever I need to eat back my calories from a workout I go for healthy proteins. My favourite is Plain Greek Yogurt. Not only does it aid in your Calcium, it is WAY higher in Protein than regular yogurts.

Also, I love eggs, but too many rings up the cholesterol so I love getting egg whites and having some great scrambled eggs.

Do you use the chickpease from a can or the dried ones? I'm hoping the dried since the ones in a can are usually full of sodium.

Your body does need some of the fats and other nutrients that are in the egg yolk, so what I do is usually have one egg fried and then some egg whites.

Do you know of any vegetarian sausage/patty/crumbles, etc that aren't so high in sodium? I love to have a veggie burger, but so many times they are so high in sodium.

I am vegetarian, and I go over my protein intake some to most days of the week. Beans, nuts, lentils, tofu, low fat milk, low fat cheese, low fat greek yogurt, protein bars, and eggs all help me to get my protein up (and fill me up, which is awesome).

Well if you buy dried already, then you don't need to do any of that.
I dry them myself by baking them, I soak them for as long as I can in fresh water and rinse many times to remove as much of the canned juices as I can.

So if you buy the dried chickpeas, all you have to do is bake them, is that right? I understand that they (baked chickpeas) are much lower in calories than regular peanuts. I know I've had soynuts and I liked them, so I'd like to give this a try.
