Been doing MFP for a week and finding it really helpful.

Serious weight gained since I was diagnosed with fibro 4 years ago but had a real scare a couple of weeks ago with a suspected heart attack. I have now been diagnosed with unstable angina

I have now given up smoking (32 year habit!) and after talking to the nurses agreed to monitor my food intake. I had never before heard of not eating enough to lose weight, and I still can't get my head around it. How on earth can I be so overweight if I don't eat enough?? Anyway I have found that eating once a day is not the way to go, that I have to eat more than 1200 calories a day and drink lots more water. I am really struggling with it, especially eating breakfast.

I don't do rabbit food (salad) and love my red meat. Vegetables and fruit are akin to alien lifeforms and finding ones I can eat without throwing up is proving challenging. I don't eat cakes, biscuits, deep fried food etc but I do love my crunchy food eg crisps/chips, crackers etc. One of the nurses told me about making my own pita chips which has been a godsend

Never had to lose weight before, in fact I never even thought about it as I had been the same weight since I was a teenager.

Exercise is the hardest - the only one I can do without crippling myself with pain for days is walking and I walk a minimum of 4 miles a day. So I am slowly increasing my pace for my morning walk to the point where I am breathless, red faced and sweating.

Being overweight is not helping my heart and is more than likely adding to my fibro issues so I am hoping that as I lose the weight I lose some of the pain.
