Dizzyness

Does anyone else have a problem with getting dizzy during their weight loss? I've been at this for about a month and a half now, and in the last week or so, I've been really dizzy. Not to the point of feeling like I'm going to faint or anything, but I feel off balance even while just sitting at the computer, and when I lay down the room starts spinning. I have the feeling of having a head rush all the time. My guess is that my iron is low (I haven't been taking any supplements), but does anyone else experience this or know what to do to help it?

I've experienced it, and the only way I could help it is by eating more.0

It could be a range of things. Your body could be low on key nutrients. Your body may not be getting enough calories. You may be having issues with low blood pressure. It could be something completely unrelated to weight loss - it might be that you have fluid in your inner ear or a mild inner ear infection.
A doctor appointment might be your best bet. You could print out your diary and explain your situation to them (my doctors have always appreciated when I have things documented). Also note if there's any correlation between exercise and the dizziness or food and the dizziness. Have them take your blood pressure laying down, sitting up, and then standing up.

Dizziness is also a symptom of low blood pressure.0

If I go too far under my calorie count (as in, more than 100 calories under for several days in a row), I feel more lightheaded than normal. I've had anemia from dieting in the past because I cut out my main sources of iron and I was definitely lightheaded and dizzy a lot. It may very well be worth taking an iron supplement, or adding some lean red meat or green leafy vegetables (even broccoli is high-ish in iron) into your diet. Those things are pretty healthy anyways, so it's not like adding them in will hurt you.0

I agree about making sure you're eating enough. Different strokes for different folks, some people can live on 1200 calories a day, others may need 1600 or maybe even more -- especially if they exercise. If you don't think that's the issue than go to your doctor and get your blood tested for your iron levels. I have had anemia my entire life and if you have it you need to fix it, it's no fun.0

It sounds like it might be an inner ear problem because the room spins when you lie down. If it was iron, blood sugar or low blood pressure I would expect you to feel better lying down. I would get the doctor to check you over though; your iron may be low too. Hope you feel better soon :flowerforyou:0

Talk to your doctor!!!! I don't have anything bad to say about the responses, but it is something you don't wanna guess. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR, please.0

Could be a lot of things.....are you drinking enough water, B vitamin or iron deficiency, low blood sugar, low blood pressure. I have experienced this a lot over the years, I used to get really dizzy all the time. Now I drink tons of water, take a prenatal and a B12 supplement and I eat every 2-3 hours, and I never get dizzy anymore! Hope that helps a little!!!0

Thanks everyone for your comments/advice, it's all greatly appreciated. I went out and bought myself some multivitamins (figured I probably need them anyway) and tested my blood pressure on machine at the pharmacy (blood pressure was normal). I haven't had any dizzyness today, but I also drank a heck of a lot more water than I have been lately, and upped my calories by about 200 from what I normally eat (it was still just over my daily recommendation). If it comes back again though, I'm definitely going to the doctor.0
