What's the best advice you could give someone if they came to you wanting advice on weight loss?
**Me- I would really really stress to someone not to let the number on the scale ever get to them. Weight flucates with water, sodium, food everything. Never get discouraged by the number and don't go crazy weighing yourself every day all hours of the day. Once you get the hang out changing your eating habits it's much easier. It's a lifestyle change not a diet. You get whatever you settle for. :flowerforyou:

Awesome advice. I would also include a nod to MFP because without this resource and all my terrific MFP friends, I would not have been able to lose this much weight.0

I would say that every little bit helps! Even if you are very overweight (i.e. obese) the National Institute of Health says that even 10lbs can make a dramatic difference in your health.
"Falling off the wagon" just means going and catching back up! Wagons are notoriously slow moving and all your MFP friends are there to give you a hand and pull you back up. Don't be embarrassed of the falters, we all have them, just brush it off and don't let it get to you.
Find ways of making a lifestyle change, not just a diet0 -
You guys are both right!! I totally owe everything to MFP and I tell EVERYONE about it!!! I also agree that even if you fall off the wagon don't give up then, tomorrow is a new day! That was always the mistake I use to make when I would try and lose weight before.0

It is possible for anyone! A little dedication and patience and you will succeed..
And refer them to MFP :happy:0 -
that's great advice
i did a post about two months ago
here are some advice that I would give
*This is HARD friggin work
*My weight will not come off overnight
*If you have a bad day...tomorrow is a new one
* Water Water Water
*If you really want something..have it
ENJOY it but not all the time
*This is not a diet
* Baby Steps
* This weight journey will be forever
*The number on the scale shouldn't dictate what kind of person you are0 -
MODERATION!!! You can eat nearly everything, if you eat it in moderation. But for beginners, I would advise them to stay away from processed foods. At least until the change they are making becomes a habit. Once the habit is in place, it's okay to indulge once in awhile as long as it's in moderation.
And drink LOTS of water!!! Eliminate carbonated drinks at all costs!!! NO SODAS!!!!0 -
I am even using some of this advice thanks guys0
