Despite all of the Bowflexing and Pro Gym Equipment out there
I'm really getting jazzed about doing old school push ups lately
I'm seeing great results since I've added them to my strength training and I feel like I could cut out
about half of my time weight training if I just added more of them to my workout
Right now I do 6 sets of 10 reps
with Downward Dog stretches between reps

I've seen a workout where speed skater Apolo Ohno does push ups between two balance balls?
Amazing core strength!

You might want to look at the P90X program then. It's got a lot of push ups and pull ups incorporated into the program.

Totally! They are simple and effective.

If I'm in a hurry but want a strength training workout I do what I call an AMAP ( as many as possible) workout:

as many pushups as possible followed by as many squats as possible, followed by as many pull ups as possible followed by as many lunges as possible... then repeat 3 or 4 times... it's a pretty good full body workout... ideally, deadlifts would be in there, but i have a bad low back.

Here's to bringing the pushup back!

You might want to checkout http://hundredpushups.com/ . It's a program to help you build up to being able to do 100 pushups at once. The guy that created it has also come out with one for situps, dips, squats, and is working on pullups. They're great programs.

Push ups are great- they work the back, shoulders, chest, arms and abs. Check out: http://www.hundredpushups.com/- it is a six week program where you build up to 100 pushups. They also have programs for squats etc. I am going to try the two hundred squats program.
