i've always wondered... is it harder to lose weight with a heavy family or a fit family?

with a heavy family, they tell you youre beautiful no matter how you look. and it's hard. i mean, you're surrounded by all these heavy people that love you for you, at any size. it's very easy to just give up b/c even being bigger, youre still like them.

on the other hand, with a fit family, being the only heavy one is very stressfull. and tho they tell you theyll love you no matter, you always feel like they would rather you be thin like them. and while that could help motivate you, it could also create a lot of problems.

personally, my mom is very thin, no matter how much she eats she doesn't gain. i lose 5 pounds and she wants to go to an all you can eat to "reward" me. and just the feeling of how gross i look next to her motivates me to keep going. not the best motivation but its what i have right now and im willing to work with it.

The only real way to make a fit lifestyle work is to disregard people on either side - do it for you, focus on you, and stick to your goals.

I'm a little like that with my sister - when we lived together and shared groceries she couldn't see any reason to avoid having choc biscuits in the house because it wasn't a problem for her but then would criticise what I ate or wore, claiming she was being 'supportive' to help me get my weight down.

I have always used food as a reward or dinner, ice cream as a celebration for something good.

Maybe your Mom is just trying to take you to dinner to spend time with you. My Mother used to do that with me so I totally understand but now we do not live in the same state.

Suggestion.... The next time you loose and she wants to take you out. Ask her to come over and walk with you or ask her to meet at a park and walk.
  • honest. i didn't post this to be abbout me.

i was just really wondering what people thought was harder: loosing in a heavy family? or loosing in a fit family?
