This will be my second time around doing p90x and I have started to develop my trapezius?? or um neck and shoulder muscles I want to be strong i want a strong back and arms but I want my shoulders to be a slender feminine slope. Is there some exercises I should leave out of my work out routine so as to not bulk them up anymore? Or any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.

YOU WILL NOT BULK UP UNLESS YOU ARE EATING SURPLUS CALORIES.

Here's the thing. You're trap's are getting stronger and for a muscle to get stronger it will gain some size. There's a difference between Mass (i.e. bodybuilder size) versus some hypertrophy from strength gains. I wouldn't stop what you're doing but incorporate exercises to increase strength in other muscle groups to balance out your strength gains. I really know nothing about P90 so I'll approach this from strength training and just upper body since that seems to be the issue. Examples:

    Upper Back Exercises
    - Barbell / Dumbell rows (vary grips between pronated, supinated, neutral)
    - Face Pulls
    - Rear Delt raises (Yes delts are a shoulder muscle but you can incorporate into this workout too)

    Backs Lat's
    - Pull-ups / Chin-up's (vary width and grips)
    - Straight Arm pulldowns (vary between a bar and rope)
    - Lat Pulldowns

    Shoulders
    - Military Press
    - Front Raise
    - Lat Raise
    - Shrugs (trap focused)

    Chest
    - Bench Press
    - Dips (hits shoulders and triceps too)
    - Cable Cross overs or Flyes

More reps with lower weight = lean muscle

less reps with heavier weight = larger muscle

As long as you're not increasing the weight, your muscles won't keep growing.

    .

You mean your muscles will stop progressing in strength which if you're not trying to get a little bit better what's the point.

Sami said she is doing P90X which is primarily an endurance/cardio workout but it will induce some hypertrophy in beginners. So even if she keeps at it, the most that will happen is that she will lose fat & gain more endurance. I don't think strength gain is her main objective here.
  • YOU WILL NOT BULK UP UNLESS YOU ARE EATING SURPLUS CALORIES.

YOU WILL if you are burning fat while doing enough resistance training to build muscle. The fat serves the same purpose as calories from food- it provides energy for muscle growth (or whatever you need it for). Since I have only done the Plyometrics workout so far, I don't know which exercises P90X uses, but "shrugs" are generally used to build the upper traps. Also, exercises that work the delts may also enhance traps.
Not to mention some of us have more testosterone than others, which leads us to develop muscle more readily than women with lower testosterone levels. I have had huge traps since I was a teenager. I worked them then because I was into weight lifting. Haven't worked them since and mine are bulkier than yours. I look like a male bodybuilder from the neck to shoulders. No spaghetti straps or strapless tops for me- I agree that strong is beautiful, but it sucks to inadvertently intimidate men by wearing a tank top! ;) You may just have to wear your hair down when it's particularly important to look feminine.
