My House Mates Have Joined Me With Weightloss :)

Me and my two house mates (who are my best mates) have decided to go to the gym together, and have a weekly weigh :-D
I've been working on my fitness for a little while, but for the girls this is all new I'm excited to help them get started and have work out partners.
Any hints or tips that can be offered to us?
I will be following a much more stricter diet than the girls. They are going to ease into slowly, starting with the excersise.

Sorry, to be more specific, I am curious if anyone else has worked out in a close knit group like this. I know that I am in this for the long haul, but whether the girls are or not is up to then.
Should I kick them up the butt if they lag, or should I just go without them?
I am very competitive, and I can admit, quite critical of peoples actions and choices.
Really, I am just curious is anyone has done something like this before, and if so, did it work out well, or did it end horribly.
EDIT: Also, with the excersise component, could anyone recommend a circuit program for us to use or something?0 -
My sister, house mate, friend and myself are doing this all together. Having supportive friends and family surrounding you is honestly the BEST way to change your lifestyle. In terms of advice - I'd say even if you're feeling ridiculously unmotivated - keep motivating your friends and if you guys have a collective positive attitude it will do wonders for your results. The whole motivation thing can work the other way too - if one of your housemates gives up it's likely the other one will too and then begins the downward spiral - so motivating your friends, despite your own anxieties, will keep you (and them) in line!
Workout together - that's a given. I find that my sister and I compete a lot - if I work out, she feels obliged and vice versa. Cook meals together and add in the calories together - share advice and constantly keep your goals at the back of your mind. I find that to lose weight you have to constantly be thinking about it! Good luck and hope it all goes well for you guys!0 -

Thanks good reply
Our gym has a board up on the wall with people beating gym records... I want to be on the board... might get my house mates to try with me so we can work towards it together0 -
My best friend is also my roommate and we're also both on MFP trying to get healthy. We're attached at the hip, so we do a lot of our working out together (even if it is at home in our living room).
When she doesn't want to work out, but she should, I drag her along. She does the same for me. We decided at the beginning that we were gonna be in each other's bidnez about this the whole way. We don't always like it, but it makes it easier in the long run to stick with it when you know you have someone to kick you in the butt when you need it.
I think you should sit down with your friends and discuss what each of them is okay with. Then you'll know whether you can be a hardass up front
Oh, and this extends to our food as well. We always eat the same dinner, because we go grocery shopping together and cook together. And if one of us says 'don't let me eat candy after dinner' or something like that, we say something too.0 -
thank you
my biggest concern is that they dont want to count calories (i'm eating my own dinners... they are vegan)... so they don't realise what is in their food and what effect it has on their body. They might get discouraged and give up when just excersise isn't working for them... i mean weightloss is mostly diet... I just keep having MFP on my computer for them to see haha0 -
