  • That's completely up to you, but they put the numbers down that are suggested for you!
I personally feel that you will lose the weight as long as you are watching the calories, but it can't hurt to try to eat on target for the rest either! ;D
  • Definitely the sat fat. Too much of it is always, always bad. Also watch sodium, it makes you retain fluid. The sugar and carbs, depends on the source and how your body handles them. I'm always at least double over the sugar, but almost all of it comes from fresh fruit and I'm doing okay on weight loss. I would watch the calories and sat fat and when you've learned more about what does and doesn't work for you, concentrate on the others.

Saturated fat isn't bad. It is the trans fat (partially hydrogenated ingredients) that you should look out for. There have been PLENTY of studies and numerous sources I can name, but just search on google. You'll find that it is actually good to have saturated fat in your diet. (Of course don't go overboard like the above poster said)

Also, Saturated fat is in Peanut butter, peanuts, pistachios etc... Healthy foods. Just a FYI.

Monitor your carb intake, fat intake and protein. Those are the 3 most important. You can limit water retention by drinking more water.

Wow you've lost 17lbs already... good for you :flowerforyou:

Sure it's all about keeping a balance, but don't get too hung up on the counters. There's no BAD foods, just bad amounts.

Eating a donut won't kill you - eating a dozen Krispy-Kreme a week might not be so good for you.

Eating a fruit salad is nutritious and delicious - eating 2-3kg of fruit a day will pile on the calories.

Everything in moderation and most important of all... find the foods you like to eat, that make you feel good (and I don't mean go grazing in the Pick n Mix aisle:laugh: ) monitor your portions and make sure you're getting a good balance of fruit n veg, carbs, proteins and YES even FAT!!!

If you're happy, it'll be so much easier to stick to this better way of life now and forever more
