Should a person take a day off of exercise to get a couple hours of rest in or is this an excuse to be lazy?

depends... sleep is needed, but don't use it as a need to skip exercising. A short 20 minute walk or jog can be done and still get your sleep in...
  • listen to the body, it knows what it wants and know this that when you are sleeping, weightloss is happening.

You need sleep at least 8hour a night. You also need rest or active recovery days(light walking cleaning ect) but to use that as an excuss to not do anything then don't use it. You can do 20-30 ligh activity. take a nap if needed.

During sleep you produce a lot of necessary hormones including Growth Hormone and other hormones that can help you balance your metabolism, lack of sleep will make you're body have stress all the time and as you may heard stress is good, but up to a level. You need a minimum of 6 hours of sleep every day so your body can recuperate for all the activity during the day. My recommendation is to sleep a mean of 8 hours per day and no more than 9 hours, you can exercises every day, that's even good for your health because it produces a stability of substances in your brain that keeps you in track of your health goal. After 20 days of the same exercise your body will get accustomed and not only you wont need the rest, you'll need to do exercise as a requirement on your daily routine.

30 minutes can make or break you. 30 minutes of walking, is enough to do something, and still be able to sleep easily. 30 minutes of high intensity running and cardio can kick your *kitten* more than you know and cause the burn to go on for hours after you work out. I can get as much of a workout in 30 minutes that some people get going to the gym for 3 hours a day. its all about intensity.
  • I do 30 min of 4.0 walking so 2 miles every half hour...I'm not getting fatter ..must be working then lol
