Tomato ulcer relief?

I'm a tomato-holic--I just LOVE them, especially in the summer when the heirloom varieties are fresh and plentiful at the farmer's market.
But here's my problem: every now an then I "O.D", and end up with nasty looking and quite painful ulcers in and around my lips and cheeks from the acid. I know the cure is to back off on the acidic and spicy foods for a week or two, but since that means no tomatoes (or spicy food!) for a week or two, I wonder if anyone out there has found a quicker path to relief?
