Good morning MFP friends. I'm looking for some suggestions for low sodium foods and meals. Anyone have some favorites they can share?? I'm struggling with new options..

  • I just tried the Sara Lee Lower Sodium Oven Rosated Trukey from the deli at my local grocery store (had a $1 off coupon)....It taste GREAT! Not sure how much lower the sodium is, but it is a start LOL!

  • I have a problem with keeping sodium in check also. Anything that is a clean whole food, you don't have to worry about. Its all those canned frozen pre packaged meals that are loaded with sodium. I recently read that sea salt doesn't affect our body like refined salt does. So if you want to salt your meals, use sea salt instead!

If you avoid processed foods you will be fine. I eat very little processed food (usually) and sometimes struggle to get enough sodium (I'm one of those annoying people that needs to eat more sodium). Lots of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water and you should be fine :)

I never add salt to stuff, and pick no-salt added veggies... take a look at my diary if you want. My sodium is usually way lower than goal.

Don't eat foods that have a label on them. Apparently, it is labels that add sodium.

A little sticker that identifies it is fine - that doesn't seem to add sodium.
