reality check: "NSF?"

Is there such a thing as a "NSF" (non scale failure)??
OK so I have been feeling pretty good about myself. I'm in the middle of my published "ideal weight" range, working on losing fat and building muscle, and yes, noticing the difference especially now that I have started pushing the strength training more.
Last night a friend of mine was showing me some pictures from her recent trip. She took a group of kids to Madrid for World Youth Day. I did not go but I know a lot of the kids, and as it happened I left for a business trip on the same day so we coincided in the airport. And sure enough- there I was in a couple of pictures, not looking so great LOL. (They are pictures where I was not in the group- I was off to the side talking to someone else or whatever while someone was taking a group photo of the kids.) ANYWAY - so I saw this view of myself that I don't usually see- bummer.
Lessons learned:
1> I have to STAND UP STRAIGHT. My mom told me that for YEARS but hey- I really have to do it!! It makes a huge difference in my appearance.
2> I have to BUY NEW JEANS. The old ones are wayyyy to big now and that just makes me look fatter on the bottom half.
3> OK so I have a way to go before I look good from behind. I'm starting over with new resolve
Thanks for listening!!

Girl, look at the positive...you have lost so much weight your jeans are that big...woohoo for you!! We are feel down still sometimes about how we still look in pictures and I think part of that is because of our old view of ourselves and not being used to our new self! I bet those people were thinking wow she looks great and so fit!!
We all will always still have insecurities but it is us saying I am not going to let you ruin my life and mood that makes those strengths! Love ya and you are doing so good!! Keep up the awesome work and focus on your strengths! :flowerforyou:0 -
Don't see it as a failure! EVERYONE has bad pics every now and then. See it as a good thing you get to buy new jeans!0

Ugh don't you hate that?! I'm sure you look great though!!
I had one the other night, I was out for a walk with my son, and a group of guys drove by and yelled "eww fat b****!" I wanted to cry, I've lost 50 lbs. 195-145 and finally feeling good about myself! Just more motivation to work harder I guess!0 -

I also tend to look terrible in photos, especially posed ones. I get the rare "nice smile" picture, but usually I'm blinking or making a weird face.0 -
Oh, Sweetie! I'm sorry about that, but I know just what you mean. I was always told to stand up straight and keep my tummy tight. I didn't really listen until recently. And the clothes thing is really hard. I'm still wearing things that are too big simply because my girls need things before I ever consider it for myself. However, I went for a walk this morning in a pair of cargo capris that were tight on me when I tried them on again over a year ago. Now, I can fit one of my daughters in them with me! According to my oldest, I need properly fitting clothes more than she needs anything so that SHE doesn't die of embarassment!!! LOL!!!
So proud of all you've accomplished! Have a great day!
