It's been under a month since I tentatively decided to start eating a little healthier and do a little exercise. And even less since I made the decision to actually lose weight and get in shape. For me, its the first time in 30 years.

Measurement-wise, the results are beginning to show. I'm down from an all-time high of 233 to 217 and my pants are starting to sag low on my hips.

But the big surprise is how great I feel. THIS is what I was wishing my antidepressants would be able to do. Throughout the day, too many times to count, I get these little jolts of something - energy, freshness, enthusiasm, aliveness - that kind of interrupts my ordinary, familiar, day-to-day feeling of being in my body. And even though there isn't a lot visible change yet when I look in the mirror, I've started having this sensation where my body literally feels like it is already slim and fit on the inside.

I suppose none of this is really big news. It's not like I had never heard that if you "eat right and exercise" you will feel better. But I never really imagined it would happen to *me*. I like food and i like comfort, and my idea of diet and exercise was something more unpleasant than I was willing to endure. Now that I'm doing it,it really isn't bad at all. And SO worth it.

I wanted to post this here, because there's this weird thing where people are easily annoyed by too much gushing enthusiasm. I'm trying not to subject my friends and co-workers to too much of it. But I imagine a lot of folks here know exactly what I'm talking about and so are more willing to be "subjected" to it. So thanks for listening !
