Water Consumption

I completely understand the reason for drinking water. My question is do flavored, calorie free, sodium free drinks count as water i.e. Sparkling Waters count in your daily water count?

I don't count 'em, if I drink other beverages than water I put them in my diary (even if they're calorie free) but I count only the water that I drink in the "water" cup.
I did read an article once that claimed you can get enough water to survive each day in things other than just its pure form (aka a cup of water) but since I'm *trying* to drink more I only count: water.0 -
I would say they do count. All sparking water is, is water with air added to it.0

How about the crystal light mixes that go in water? Do you still count the fact it is a 16oz bottle of water? I drink about 6 of those a day at work.0

well I add MIO flavor to my water & zip fizz which is vitamins so i def count that, I try to drink my 1 gallon a day! (i rarely can)0

i HATE plain water (first-world problem, i know, i know), so i make very diluted crystal light, and i definitely count that in my tracker... but i also count it toward my water consumption.0

heck yeah they count as water - i would just limit the number of artificial sweeteners you consume (some people react to sweeteners) otherwise whatever helps you drink your water is great - your body processes it almost the same anyway.0

I wondered about this also once and someone once told me that if everything for the nutritional values is 0 across the board you can count it as water, artificial sweetners that are used in those flavored water can take away from water's natural goodness.0

Water doesn't have much "natural" goodness LoL it is just a great hydrator and sweeteners *low to no cal* don't really retract from that. Water is enhanced with post performance adders or electrolytes - those bring out the natural benefits of water because teh sodium helps "guide" the water to the various organs0

Water does have natural goodness essential minerals and vitamins that your body needs. Also do a little research on artifical sweetners.0 -
Wow all these people who *do* count it! If I counted my other beverages I'd be drinking almost a gallon a day!! haha0
-
I drink more than 3 L a day which is in excess of one gallon - I don't count diet soda or any of that any typically it is just water but there is no harm in lightly flavoured water especially if it is what helps your hydrate0
-
Water should essentially have 0 vitamins and minerals - those are added to bottled water and included in tap water because of the processes used to make it drinkable or increase the health factor - water is essentailly 0 nutrients but required to hydrate the body it is the salts and things that we eat that draw the water into the body. I don't see where you find that there are natural vitamins and minerals in water - essentially it is hydrogen and oxygen so natural water is just naturally hydrating not full of vitamins and minerals (naturally)0

You shouldn't count all your beverages, just water ones... LOL0 -

Err...you ARE drinking almost a gallon a day! Doesn't matter if you "count" it or not!
It's like saying "Wow, people actually log calories from their sauces? If i did that i'd be on 3,000 day! but since i dont log them, i havent had them!"
Tea/coffee/juice/etc all count towards 8 cups of fluid a day. Whether you choose to log it or not doesn't change the fact that you are taking in hydrating fluids.
However, drinking more wont hurt, unless you either drink far, far more, or you have an aversion to the toilet! :P0 -
Everything you drink counts as water as far as your body is concerned. It all hydrates you. Just because you play mental tricks with yourself to try and convince yourself that only the water hydrates you, your body knows better.0
