hi there!!! ok, for those of you who are or are in the process of becoming a personal trainer, how did you do so? through online? a school? which certifications do you have and what (by knowledge of) do you say isnt a good one.....i've heard of ACT (which i am not personally interested), but you can finish in record time of 2-3 months, pay only 65 dollars and most things are included! ok, um, is this a scam? too good to be true? or other words will gyms and or clients turn away bc lack of studying and learning? 2-3 months just doesnt seem long enough. there are : ACE, ACT, NPTI, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NCSF....those are certificates, but they are gained through different schools/ online schools/scams? help please! i want to look into this, become one, but i want to be serious and get into it, not go the cheap route. all input and advice is welcomed! thanks!

I am spending the next couple years upgrading my highschool courses so that I can go to the university program for it. It's a two year course that I can do online or in class (I'm hoping for in class but I will have to see how my schedule works out). But there are ways you can get certified without school, I just haven't really looked into it because it's not the way I want to do it.0

I'm doing mine through Penn Foster Career school online. They send you books in the mail or you can do it all online.0

I went through NPTI, and it was the BEST decision I ever made. 6 months of classroom and hands-on experience, so when you graduate, you already have experience in your field. My instructors were amazing and I recommend the school to anyone. Not only did I learn the ins and outs of training and the body, but I learned a lot about business and how to operate in different atmospheres as well as how to start up your own training business, etc. I absolutely, whole-heartedly LOVE their program. I don't know where you're located, but I attended the school in Lisle, IL.0
