Achilles/Calf Strain During 30DS...HELP!

Hi

I Just started 30DS level 2 Day one and experienced really painful calf strain which went from my mid calf down to my achilles tendon around mid August. I left it for over a week to allow recovery as it was really tight and I hobbled around for most of the week. Last Monday I tried going out for a gentle walk as I was pain free for 3 days, after 30 minutes the pain came back, it got so bad that my sis had to drive me back home!

The pain and limping around has been going on and off all this week and its really frustrating me as it took a lot for me to get into exercise in the first place. All I want to do is get back into it....no doubt starting 30DS form scratch again :(

Can anyone offer any suggestions or advice that can help me make this better??

Thanks x

I tore my calf muscle because of the 30DS. Go to your doctor. S/he can prescribe anti-inflammatory pills that may help. They sort of helped me, but not much. Only thing to do is to rest the leg =[ I'm still waiting for mine to recover and it's been about 3 weeks. I go swimming to stay fit and focus on my arms.

You can still do a modified 30DS. I just don't do stuff that will strain the calf (ie just standing doing biceps curls and not squatting down). And for the cardio parts I just get my hula hoop.

I rather get a semi-workout than do the actual workout, hurt my leg more, and then be out of commission longer.

R.I.C.E = Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate

A good, snug ace bandage will help it heal much quicker. It seems to hold it together so it doesn't have to work so hard...then the muscle can focus more on healing than working. It's a pain, it hurts, and it seems unfair, but you can continue to work out...modification will still help you burn calories faster than doing nothing at all!

Good luck honey. You can make it through this!

Thanks so much ladies....I guess I've copped out a bit and not done much exercise at all, probably more out of frustration than anything else.

I will start doing a modified version tonight.

    Best wishes....x
