Real differences between the Polar FT4 and FT7?

Can anyone tell me the difference in these two HRM? Both seem to have a chest strap and give the info I'd need, but one is more expensive than the other. Is there a reason I should REALLY choose the FT7 over the FT4?

I'm not swimming with it if that matters, mostly running is what I'm doing. Money is tight (who isn't?) But I've been here a year and down 74lbs and the last 10-15lbs are going to be harder without a good HRM I think and now might be the time to splurge. Please help!!

EDIT: What about a Garmin 305? I have a friend who says it's great for running since it does GPS feature but then I've heard it's calorie count isn't that accurate. The more I read the more confused I am!

My disclaimer is that I'm basing this JUST on what I've read or heard from others. I have an FT7 and if you're just estimating cals burned, then either the FT4 or FT7 should be fine. I believe the FT7 can store more workouts and has a few additional features that I don't really use.

The big difference (again, just based on info from others) is that the FT4 may connect with another HRM or machine equipment. Therefore, it may screw up your cal readings at times. The FT7 'wave length' or whatever the heck it is called... connects only to your own monitor and doesn't have any interference. Additionally, the FT7 is crap in water... its water proof, but it won't take your pulse. I'd imagine the FT4 is just as bad in water. My mother has the FT4 and has had interference at times.

Thats all I got! Hope it helps...
