Is 4.5 mph a very, very brisk walk for you?

If I want to go at that speed I can either:

run slowly

Or

Run part of the time, walk part

(according to RunKeeper).

Then when I log it's a walk!

I'm 5'5", and wonder if it's a height thing.

Do you walk or run at 4.5 mph, and how tall are you?

    4.5mph is an easy jog for me. 4.0mph is a power-walk. I'm also 5'5".

I am 5'4" and I jog at 4.5 as I am a beginner. I usually walk 3.5 and just bumped up to 3.7 which feels like a power walk right now for me.

I'm 5'1" so 4.5mph is a jog for me, but I typically jog at 5mph. I think it does depend a lot on height.

I am 5' 3" and I do my easy pace for long distance runs at a 4.5 (13:20 minute mile) so that I know I can make it. But that is my run... even if it is slow  I can do a 5.0 (12:00 minute mile) for my faster pace but not for too long.

I'm just under 5'3" and 4.5 MPH is a jog for me. I'm really stepping to keep it at a walk at 4.0 MPH, in fact and 5.0 MPH is running.

I'm 5'7 and the best I can average during my 1 hour lunch walk is about 3.7 mph. I guess I could hit 4.0 for a few stretches, but I start getting pain in my insteps. I can't imagine WALKING 4.5 mph. I do hit it when jogging.

I can power walk up to 4.8mph. I'm 5'8" though. And I have a long stride. 4.5mph is fast. I walk normally at about 4.2mph (walking to the store not for exercise).

    I'm 5'4" and 4.5 is jogging for me. :)

I can walk up until about 4.1 or 4.2 and then I have to move into jogging.

I jog from there until about 4.8 and then jogging turns into outright running. :)

I have very short legs though.

I'm 5'7" and 4.5 is a slow jog for me. A very, very brisk walk would be 4.3.

I am 5' 8" and 4.5 it would be a fast walk for me now ... but before, 4.3 was one of my jogging paces, so it may be relative to how fit you are as well as how long those legs are??

I'm 5'8. I power walk at 4 and jog at 5. At 4.5 I'm doing a super power walk, pretty much moving as fast as I possibly can and looking pretty ridiculous because it's such an awkward speed. I lasted for a few minutes only.

I'm 5'9" and it is a slow jog for me. I don't get much higher than 4.7 right now because of joint issues (back, knee). It can log it as a walk until it's purple, it's still a jog for me.

5'3 and I can easily walk at 4.5. I can ever walk super fast at 5mph. And no, I don't have super long legs.

In terms of running, I've never run slower than a 5.8mph pace. My easy pace is about 6.3, but I can run up to 9 on a treadmill, and can hit about 11mph in a sprint.

I think it's all relative and has a lot to do with overall fitness though and not really how short/tall you are.

Mostly getting that it's a walk from 5'7" / 5'8", and a jog below that.
