Because you don't want to know!!!! lol I looked at a Hostess pie that I ate a LOT of as a child just because I was curious... 460 calories, mostly just from sugar. I couldn't believe it. My little child body was eating that and my mother didn't care. Ugh. I wouldn't eat but MAYBE 1/4 of that 'cause honestly anything over 150-200 calories for something sweet just doesn't sit well with me. I can't do it 'cause I know I can eat so much more "healthy" food for the same amount, lol.

lol... because if people actually looked at the calories in, say, an apple fritter or strawberry strudel, they would be confronted with the horrendous amounts of calories, and the stores would never sell anything... ignorance is bliss for the store's bottom line.

In all seriousness, because it's made in a bakery or store that doesn't calculate the nutrition, or because the calories are variable. It's annoying, but because of it, I've learned to skip the bakery.
  • Because then they'd have to admit the reason their frosting tastes so good is because it's made with either solid lard or shortening.

It's annoying to be sure, though, especially since there are so many people who have no idea what really goes into commercial baked goods, and just think they're the same as a cake/pastry made at home.
