Not eating exercise Calories

I eat mine back and I just registered a 3.2lb loss for this week....18lbs total since July.
eta: If you are gaining weight from eating your exercise calories, you are either underestimating the food you are eating or you are overestimating the effort of your exercise, or a combination of both. It's reasonable to eat all but 1-200 exercise calories to account for inaccuracy of counts on both ends.0 -
People with a lot of weight to lose and/or people with a high percent of body fat can lose weight without eating exercise calories. However, they can also lose weight WHILE they eat the exercise calories. (please do not count walking across a parking lot or doing laundry as exercise).
People who are very active with a healthy to athletic body fat percentage DO need to eat their exercise calories, because they have such little fat, it is hard to lose. If they fail to eat enough cals they will lose their muscle mass instead and/or plateau and sometimes even gain.
Specific reasons why are here, see references on the 2nd page:

People who restrict their calories to a very low level below their BMR (especially people who have a lot to lose) are more likely to become hungry, frustrated, binge and give up. This is why there a lot of people on here who have "lost weight a million times" but never kept it off.
This is why it is recommended to eat your exercise calories, even if you do have a lot to lose, because you are more likely to actually MAKE it to goal and stay there.
