The name brand foods usually have a few less calories, less fat, and tend to be a bit healthier?

it seems that eating healthier costs a lot more. My sister has been trying to lose weight for a long time but she is going back to school again, and has 2 daughters and a husband to take care of, so its hard for her and a lot people in her place to afford good healthy food. How douse one go forth losing weight in that situation?

I am going to check that out saturday. Interesting, for sure.

It truly is hard to eat healthy when you dont have the money to buy good food. A pomegranate was $4.99 :noway: One serving of fruit.

And that's a heck of a lot of work eating a pomegranate. I wonder if the calorie intake negates the calories burned just trying to eat the @#$! thing...
  • no I never noticed either thanks for the info. Your right good food for you seems to be more expensive.

ahh THANK YOU!! I listened to many when they said...OMG they are soooo good. Well I got one...it wasn't that pricey though but it was definitely more then I normally spend for one piece of fruit! LOL

Well no kidding, dang, that IS way to much work for me!! I now have Pomegrante juice spots all over the walls etc. Couldn't figure out what it was...sheesh it squirted everywhere...and MY but they ARE alot of work eating. I think I personally will try out the juice next time:blushing: :noway:

As long as I don't spill any I'll be fine!! But glad I tried the experience of eating one......now I can warn others....  J/K!! sorta... :blushing:

I hear ya....sales, checking ads, buy store brands, eating healthier is defintiely cheaper in the long run (even if prices don't indicate it), health wise though for sure!!!:flowerforyou:

I hear people say all the time it is more expensive buying healthy food. What I have found is if you are buying healthy food for yourself PLUS junk food/soda/fast food, then yes it is an added expense. I cut out buying soda, junk food and fast food and voila, extra money for good foods for the entire family-- we are saving money, looking good and feeling great. Yeah, I had to slowly wean them, and when the teenager and his dad are on their own they sneak out to Burger King, but what I don't know won't hurt me.

Once you identify a few healthy brands, just keep a lookout for whenever it is on sale or has a coupon.

You can check http://www.couponmom.com/ or http://www.fatwallet.com/ for some leads.

I only buy things on sale, and I like enough different foods/brands that I can always find something at a local store.

Also, for pomegranates (which I LOVE!) - my trick is to fill a large bowl with water, submerge the pomegranate, then quarter it and pick off the seeds into the water. Dump the whole thing into a strainer, and I'm done - no splash damage! Wastes a little water though... but saves at least the same amount when you try to clean the stains off your clothes, walls, and family members!
