How much is too much?

I was having a conversation about drinking habits with my co-worker yesterday, and it made me curious as to what other people think...How much it is too frequent? Do you drink or abstain? Do you have a glass of wine per night or have 5-6 drinks but only on friday and saturday? Do you only drink liquor on the weekend, or do you enjoy a nice post-work cocktail?

I dont drink at all except once in a very blue moon...my liquor of choice is water...all due to a bad experience in 1991.0

as part of my new healthy habits, I rarely drink, and funny thing is that I don't miss it anymore. If we go on vacation, I will enjoy some beverages, but thats it. I am really enjoying my new healthy lifestyle way better than those calorie-packed beverages. My mantra--we must never drink our calories0

Ha ha. Alcohol is the one thing that I haven't cut back on much since starting this journey. I typically have 2-3 drinks per week, more often than not just on the weekend. I like doing that one "normal" thing that everyone else is doing when through the week I constantly feel like the "No-I-don't-want-the-cake-that-every-other-person-on-staff-is-eating" outcast.0

This is just me, but I tend to cook with wine about once a week or a bit less often and drink wine with that meal, and the rest of the time I only drink if I'm offered a drink with friends, and never more than 2 or 3 drinks at a time (this happens about once a month) or I have a drink at a sidewalk café with friends.0

I'll have an occasional drink when out with friends, but not very often. Personally I'd rather eat the calories instead of drinking them0

I will drink if I go out for dinner, but very rarely at home. Sometimes I go for weeks without drinking and I don't even notice it or miss it.
As for your question about health, I think a glass of wine with dinner is fine, even if it's every day.0 -
During the summer I drink a lot more, so right now Im on a white month and havent been drinking anyn alcohol for four weeks, and Ill think I ll keep it up for as long as I can cuz I se a lot of health benfits coming from it.
When I drink i drink maybe once every third week when I go out to a club and Ill drink everything between a couple of glasses of wine to a few drinks if I feel of going all in. How much is to much is very individual.0 -
I don't usually drink anymore unless it is a special occasion dinner out. I'd just prefer to eat my calories. With our strict drinking and driving laws 5-6 seems like an awful lot in one sitting (day). Aside from the calorie wallop, drinking that much alcohol isn't terribly healthy for your body. Just sayin'.0

Im an all or nothing kinda gal. So now I drink nothing but used to drink everyday atleast 7-10 drinks through out the day. Yes I know, that why I dont drink anything anymore!0

Just to clarify, I don't do 5-6 drinks in one sitting...because that would make standing difficult! but I am a drinker and I do know plenty of people who have all of the habits that I mentioned...I was just curious as to what everyone else's habits were...as for me it varies from week to week and day to day but I do enjoy a glass of wine or two at the end of a long day!0 -
I love a glass of wine with dinner and I love to have a margarita with friends on "Margarita Wednesdays", I just figure in the calories first. I think if anyone is having more than a drink or 2 they aren't staying within eir calories for the day (or at least aren't eating their calories) This is a lifestyle change, not a punishment. If you are thinking in terms of "binging" on the weekends then I fear you are setting yourself up for failure in the long run. All things in moderation.0

I think she makes a very good point.0
