I agree! Especially since eating more seems to be working great for you!0 -
1200 is an arbitrary number. It is the number anyone who puts 2 lb/week loss goal will be assigned. That does not mean it's good for you.
2 lb/week loss goal is for obese people.
Seriously, you must eat minimum fuel for your body. Think about it. BMR is what you would burn if you stayed in bed all day. If you get up and just live life, without working out, you will burn 500 right there.
So: BMR 1372 + 500 = 1872. That would be maintenance if you don't work out.
BMR - the 500 = 1 lb/week loss if you don't work out, so 1372 for you.
As soon as you work out, you have more calories to eat because the deficit of 500 is already there. You eat the exercise cals bc your muscle mass needs fuel. If you DON'T eat the exercise cals, your net falls below BMR and you PLATEAU and/or gain.
BMR 1372 (remember this is for 1 lb/week loss) + 500 exercise = 1872. what happens if you only eat 1200? 1872-1200 = 672 net. is 672 under your BMR? hell yes, it is so far under your BMR you are starving, therefore you can't lose weight.

Just to be sure, my BMR is about the same should I be eating my BMR and if I exercise burning 960c/wk a total of BMR + 960 or BMR + 500? Im so confused!0 -

sorry for confusion. my 500 was a random choice. eat whatever exercise calories YOU burn.
